The Airship Concept
The world today requires a method of air transport that can carry heavy loads for long or short distances with out large numbers of ground staff and facilities.
Varialift is unique in that when on the ground it can be heavier than air and can be loaded by drive on cargo carrying trucks or vehicles.
When loading has taken place the cargo bays will be secured and the airship will lift vertically into the air without the use of thrust from engines to push it sky ward, this is due to Varialift having variable buoyancy units.
When landing it will also land vertically if required and when on the ground after a few minutes will be heavier that air, making a stable aircraft for loading and unloading.
This airship is totally rigid and able to carry heavy loads ranging in lift capacities from 50 metric tons to over 500 metric tons.
This means it is built like an aircraft but with the lift of an airship giving the best of both worlds.
- Heavy lift capability with no runways
- High speed at low cost
- Minimal ground crew required

Step Forward for Varialift
The development of the varialift principle has taken a new step forward in recent weeks with the start of construction of two varialift units for proof of concept and test purposes.
Where did Varialift come from?
Mr A Handley came up with the idea of Varialift when he was watching a television program about Airships.
He noted that the main problem with the airships of today was that the Airships lacked a total control of take off and landing, along with having to use ballast to keep the Airship in a state of neutral buoyancy.
